The game studio that took fan-funding titles to a new level returns to Kickstarter for it's next project called, Massive Chalice. Double Fine is asking for $725,000 by June 27, and as of press time, the game has already raked in more than $84,000 from over 2,000 backers.
Massive Chalice is inspired by strategy games such as XCOM and Final Fantasy and a little influence from shows like 'Game of Thrones'. The game will be a mix of tactical strategy with medieval mayhem. There will also be a permadeth system where players will need to choose if they want to keep warriors on the battlefield or return them to the castle to create a new generation of Knights.
The game is being headed by Brad Muir, the creator of Iron Brigade and credited work on Brutal Legends and Psychonauts. It is currently being developed for Windows, Mac, and Linux using the Buddha Engine which was created by Double Fine.
Massive Chalice is expected to launch sometime in September 2014.
